Best & Worst Dressed at the Golden Globes

With award season upon us, I was excited to watch the Golden Globes last night. It’s always a fun night celebrating the best of the best in television, movies, and fashion. And while the television and movie awards were as interesting as ever, it was a disappointing night in fashion.

Here are the worst and the best dressed from the last night’s red carpet.

The Worst

Jennifer Lawrence

I love JLaw, but the dress? Not so much. Seems to me she missed the mark in this Dior Haute Couture gown. Her makeup and hair were flawless though. She’s beautiful inside and out. Maybe I’ll let her slide on the dress. Just this once.

Julia Roberts

Oh my. This was hideous. Frumpy hair. The big white shirt under that elegant Dolce & Gabbana dress was bizarre. A fashion risk gone wrong.

Paula Patton

This was outrageous! She didn’t wear that dress; it wore her. Not to mention the sheerness of the dress when the stage lights hit it. Nipples, anyone?

Lena Dunham

This color screams, “Look at me!” But, maybe I just prefer a more subtle sophistication. The bust doesn’t fit correctly either. It looks like she pulled this off the rack and had no alterations made for her shape.

The Best

Cate Blanchett

I love, love, love this Armani Couture dress. Subtly sophisticated from the front. Subtly sexy from the back. Cate Blanchett is a lovely woman with radiant skin. She looked stunning!

Amy Poehler

This is a great example of a dress that probably looked blah on the hanger but came to life once Amy Poehler stepped into it. Perfect fit. Beautiful hair. She looked gorgeous in Stella McCartney.

Lupita Nyong

This was a fashion risk gone right! Love the color. Love the style. Ralph Lauren made a fabulous gown for a fabulous actress.

Margo Robbie

Now this is a va-va-voom stunner! Slit up to here and down to there, this Gucci dress is sexy and elegant. I love the emerald green jewels, too. Absolutely stunning.

So while there were a handful of stunners at the Golden Globes, here’s hoping the stars get back on the fashion train and light things up for the Oscar red carpet.
